MONTREAL (Quebec, Canada) and COTONOU (Benin, Africa)- April 3rd, 2009 - SR Telecom & Co, a leading supplier of broadband wireless access (BWA) solutions today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Communitec Benin, based in Cotonou in Benin, that will result in a major expansion of Communitec's wireless network. The agreement between SR Telecom & Co and Communitec represents the launch of a project with an estimated value of over 2.2 Billion francs CFA, which represents a value of over $4.5 Million US Dollars at current exchange rates. The expansion project, which is one of the largest broadband wireless deployments undertaken in Africa, will introduce broadband services over SYMMETRY MX WiMAX technology to Benin and extend the reach of Communitec's existing SYMMETRY ONE network.
